One of the things were excited about in the new year is our Milk Stand pop-up shop at IDS Toronto in January! This will be the 20th edition of the show and the theme of IDS20/20 will focus on changing the world through design. We believe our group of 14 independent designers + makers are doing just that now and we hope youll grab tickets to the show so you can meet them, check out their latest collections, and learn more about what theyre doing to make the world a better place, whether thats sourcing local materials, committing to sustainable practices, or just making the world look better + feel good through modern design. Designer Akiko Kato makes gender neutral jewelry which is highly conscious of design and materials. Her pieces feature thoughtful attractive minimalist design and are handmade with the finest materials.

Shelbey Dodds Jewelry Design + Metalsmithing creates contemporary jewelry utilizing traditional fabrication techniques in combination with powder-coating an industrial coloring method. Her current collection is composed of a variety of objects, i.e. earrings, brooches, pendants, and bracelets, titled industrial camp. This collection focuses on the relationship between human and object namely objects of utility, ultimately enhancing the fantasy of a utilitarian world made beautiful.

Were also excited to share a sneak peek of the Milk Stand booth design by Rollout! Rollouts concept for our pop-up retail shop goes back to basics. Imagine grassroots artist markets or nostalgic discount department stores modular structures, low-cost materials, and hand-drawn graphics elevated to Design Milks curatorial standards. Thats whats inspiring boutique wallcovering provider Rollouts concept for this years Milk Stand, in partnership with multidisciplinary design firm FormNation. Rollouts goal is to create a fluid, welcoming space that mixes high design with DIY pride in which you can relax, browse, and pick up your own one-of-a-kind item. Ordinary is just not an option.
